Movie Review by Matthew Schuchman- One out of Five ‘Staches.

When sitting down to watch an exorcism film, one should be prepared to deal with a lot of crosses and other Christian religious imagery and rhetoric.  Odd how it only seems that demons possess followers of that one religion.  When is Satan going to send a demon to possess a Jew, Muslim or Hindu?  Beyond the fact that “The Rite” was an overall mess of a film, the amount of religious diatribe I felt was being rammed down my throat really put me off. Movie Review by Matthew Schuchman- Two out of Five ‘Staches.

Whether or not you like his movies, it is hard not to like Jason Statham.  While he is enjoyable to watch when playing more charismatic characters, he has the stoic killer with a conscience role nailed down pat.  However,  as much as I like Jason Statham, his attachment does not automatically make a good film. Movie Review by Matthew Schuchman- Two and a Half out of Five ‘Staches.

Let’s just get this said, right off the bat.  “No Strings Attached” is not the inexplicable and  unwatchable cliché fest I was expecting.  Are parts of the film repetitious and predictable? Absolutely,  but the film is not completely sunk by it and Ashton Kutcher is actually somewhat watchable for the most part. (more…)

Movie Review by Matthew Schuchman- One and a Half out of Five ‘Staches.

While I’m not a massive Ron Howard fanatic, the man does have a gift for producing what would be described as uncomfortable comedies.  “Parenthood,” to this day is still one of the best movies of its kind and “Arrested Development” is one of the biggest underground hits in T.V. history.  So while the trailer and premise for “The Dilemma” didn’t thrill me, I thought maybe Howard would work some magic and pull out something surprising.  That did not happen. My reaction to the news that Seth Rogen was writing and starring in a new adaptation of “The Green Hornet” was probably similar to the thoughts of the rest of the world; “Huh?”  The end result however, is massively funny and thoroughly entertaining to say the least. (more…)
