The inspiration for “The Horse Whisperer,” Buck Brannaman is a man who needs people to understand that abusing an animal to train them is not the way to get results. And while for Buck, the animal in question is always a horse, the message he delivers carries a deeper meaning for all animals, including us humans. (more…)

Movie Review by Matthew Schuchman- Two and a Half out of Five ‘Staches.

If you decide to go see “Beautiful Boy” due to name alone, let me assure you; the film has nothing to do with John Lennon or the song of the same name. A harrowing tale of the parents of a young man who shoots up his school, “Beautiful Boy” gets marks for taking a side of a story most people would stay away from. On the other hand, it never really chooses what story it is trying to tell. (more…)

Movie Review by Matthew Schuchman- Three out of Five ‘Staches.

Super hero movies are nothing new and this year is packed full of them. With the pressure “The Dark Knight” put on the genre and the positive feedback from this years first big contender, ‘Thor,” a movie like “X-men: First Class” has a lot of competition. While being the first X-Men film to follow up the atrocity that is “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” “X-Men: First Class” doesn’t have to work too hard to immediately be considered a better movie. Luckily for the viewing audience, “X-Men: First Class” is a pretty decent movie in its own right. (more…)

Movie Review by Matthew Schuchman- Four out of Five ‘Staches.

Reclusive filmmaker, Terrence Malick is back again with his fifth film in the last 40 years. In his attempt to answer the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything; Malick’s answer is definitely not, 42. The film will confuse people; there is no doubt about it. While others will be turned off by its slow pace and unconventional structure. But if you sit and take the time to analyze the film, the end result of all its parts, is quite amazing. (more…)

Movie Review by Matthew Schuchman- One out of Five ‘Staches.

At one point, I remember Paul Bettany was a promising actor. Now he just seems to turn up in roles as either a man of the cloth, an angel or a mixture of both. The films he plays these characters in, also tend to be very poor when it comes to storytelling and actual entertainment, “Priest” is no different. (more…)

When someone close to you passes away, you need something or someone to help you through those times. The character of Hesher in the film of the same name is basically the living manifestation of the healing power of heavy metal. What starts off as a fairly funny twist on a”fairy godmother” tale, falls apart as the serious nature of “Hesher” takes over. (more…)
